We welcomed
Harry Truman’s grandson, Clifton Truman Daniel back to the Little White House on Friday, March 13th.   Friends and supporters of the Key West Harry S. Truman Foundation recently joined Clifton’s at a cocktail party celebrating the restoration progress of the building and grounds to their 1949 look when President Truman first made Key West his winter White House. The Little White House now appears far more like the home where his grandpa spent time as president than it did when Clifton last visited as an 11 year old in 1969.  He remarked, “What they’ve done for the house and garden is fantastic.  It looks better and better every year. My grandpa didn’t like monuments to himself.  There are not a lot of statues of my grandfather around.   But preserving this is something he would have loved.  He loved being in Key West.  It was good for him.  It energized him. He made some good decisions here.” In closing the evening Clifton said, “I can’t thank you all enough for keeping that legacy going.”
