About the author:
Ken has had the honored distinction for most of his golf career as “The President’s Pro”. Recently retired as the Head Professional at Coral Creek Club in Placida, Florida during the winter season, Ken spent the summers at The Cape Arundel Golf Club in Kennebunkport, Maine with the same title since 1979. Ken has been honored by the Maine Chapter PGA with numerous awards, including Professional of the Year twice and the Horton Smith award for contributions to the continued education of the Golf Professional. In 2003, Ken was honored by the New England PGA section as their Professional of the Year and two years later was inducted into the Maine Golf Hall of Fame. Ken served on the Titleist Leadership Advisory Board and spent nine years as a club fitting Consultant travelling the U.S. and Canada educating fellow Professionals as to the art of custom fitting. Golf travel has provided Ken with an in-depth knowledge of golf throughout Scotland, and on his leisure time is an avid Fly fisherman travelling from Maine to Florida, Iceland, New Zealand, Greenland, and numerous locations in Canada and the Arctic. Presently living in Placida, FL Ken enjoys daily chasing Boca Grande’s famous Tarpon along with snook, redfish, and Sea Trout.
Being the PGA Professional in Kennebunkport Maine for over 30 years he developed a cherished relationship with President George H.W. Bush and the entire Bush Family. As stated in numerous articles “Ken has played more golf with a U.S President that any other P.G.A. Pro in History”. This father/son-like relationship has also provided many lifelong memories for him and his family with overnight stays at The White House, Camp David, and various golfing, fishing and pleasure trips throughout the world. This shared passion of fishing was shared by both President Bush and Ken throughout their 40-year relationship.
Ken has been married to his wife Anne for 38 years. They have a son Kyle, who now lives in Boston with his wife Kylie and their two children (Ruthie and Kayden) and proudly works for The Boston Red Sox.
Discussion moderated by Michael Patrick Shiels, travel writer, author and radio talk show host, he collaborated with Ken Raynor in writing this book.
