Hosted by Sarah Morgan

Sarah Morgan (@cookingwiththecalutrongirls) holds a bachelor’s degree in history and possesses a unique passion for presenting women’s history in an engaging, unconventional way: through food and historical recipes.

Her journey began in 2019 when she cooked through the recipes of all U.S. First Ladies, using a vintage cookbook as her guide. This project quickly grew, leading to a long-standing partnership with the National First Ladies Library, where she presents quarterly live, virtual programs.

Currently, she is immersed in her project, Cooking With The Calutron Girls, in partnership with the American Museum of Science and Energy. This work focuses on the fascinating stories and recipes of women in Oak Ridge, TN, and their role in the Manhattan Project, which she explores by diving into the community cookbook Cooking Behind the Fence. This has further expanded to include the “Gadget Gals” of Los Alamos using What’s Cookin’ Los Alamos.  Sarah shares her historical culinary research monthly on Knoxville’s WATE 6 Living East Tennessee, has presented at History Camp Boston, and has been a guest on numerous podcasts, including The History Things.
